What does it mean to be a composer?

This week’s message also comes a day late. LOL. But it aligns with this day being a “celebration of composers.”

What does it mean to be a composer?

For me, anyone who can sit down staring a blank screen or sheet of paper (or empty tape if that’s still being used LOL), and can have a piece of music created on that paper, or screen (or tape) within a few minutes, hours, weeks, however long: That person is a composer.

Music producers. Beatmakers. Musicians.

I’m reminded of this quote from Christian Henson, co-founder of Spitfire Audio: “The act of composition is not waiting for inspiration to strike, it’s waiting for the mistakes to stop.”

Taking that a step further, any creative person can adopt the “composer” mindset.

Whether you are an author, an accountant, a teacher, a travel agent, a chef, an electrician, a fashion designer, a movie critic, or anything else, you can take a creative approach to your work.

Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

P.S. For the music creators, my first sample pack “Dream Keys Piano Loops” was released a few weeks ago. One of the samples from the pack was used for the “Mixing Night With Ken Lewis” beat challenge this week. CHECK OUT THE RESULTS HERE.
